Hi all!

I’m Caroline Beuley, often called Beuler by my friends or people who think they’re being really clever. Hence, Beuler Book Review. I’m a third year at the University of Virginia, majoring in English. I love to read, almost to a fault. I’ve walked into stationary objects while reading. I’ve pretended to be sick so I could read instead of going out. In fourth grade, I failed all my end of year standardized tests because I randomly bubbled my answers in order to return to reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Incidentally, this is my favorite Harry Potter book, and anyone who disagrees is wrong. But enough about me, let’s talk about books.

It breaks my heart when someone says they don’t like reading, that they just can’t find anything good to read, or that they don’t have time. I believe there’s always time and that anyone can like reading. I think the real problem is that people honestly don’t know what to read. The ultra-intellectual book reviews that fill magazines and newspapers, while they usually sound amazing, don’t always tell the average reader what they want to know. That’s why I decided to create this site.

My book reviews will tell you what you need to know: nothing more and nothing less. Each review will begin by listing the title, genre, and number of pages. Next will appear my “Easy to Einstein Scale,” a 5 point scale telling you whether this is a book to read on the beach while partially intoxicated or one to read with coffee, dictionary, and pencil in hand. Finally, I’ll include an “Overlaps Index.” This will simply list two other books that I deem to have overlapping themes or styles so that you can find new books similar to ones you already know and love. Following these quick takeaways will be a short blurb of no more than 400 hundred words telling you what I thought of the book.

So read one, and feel free to comment. Reading is more fun together, and I want this blog to feel just like the coffee shop in my header- a place where people can meet to relax, chat, and discover great books together.
